Title: Senior Chemist Location: Vancouver, BC Position: Full-time. Reports to the Head of Chemical Research Company: Nalu Bio is a biotech company creating a new category of chemistry-based cannabinoids for the consumer and pharmaceutical markets. Nalu Bio has developed a proprietary cannabinoid chemical synthesis platform that will set a new industry standard for pure, consistent, and quality cannabinoids. The Role: We are seeking a Senior Chemist who is a creative problem solver at heart who thrives in a team environment. The successful candidate will develop, manage and oversee Nalu Bio’s chemistry research program. This role is also responsible for project managing external partners, timelines and deliverables. Position Summary ● Developing synthetic routes to cannabinoids and the advanced analytical platforms to determine their yield, concentration, and purity. ● Plan and manage Nalu Bio chemical research projects in an efficient manner. ● External partner management and project communications. ● Organizing, supporting, and collaborating with team members to meet project deliverables and timelines ● Developing and implementing standard operating procedures ● Providing mentorship & leadership, including designing, planning and executing experiments, either independently or in collaboration with teammates The Ideal Candidate: ● A PhD in chemistry or related field with 3-5 years of experience ● Strong background in organic synthetic chemistry, and demonstrated ability to develop complex synthetic routes ● Skills with analytical instruments, like GC-qMS and LC-MS/MS ● Experience with the use of automation and liquid handlers would be an asset ● Ability to analyze large data sets and interpret and communicate data in the context of broader project objectives ● Excellent documentation, organizational and communication skills ● Great interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team. Impeccable attention to detail. ● Natural products synthesis and start-up experience are pluses!
